Alice Black

18-year old singer/songwriter, Alice Black, captures the joys and hardships of immigrants, settlers, women, children, and other often-overlooked populations of the west in her songs. Fans and music professionals frequently comment that her depth of writing and application of historical and cultural research in her songs is far beyond her years. She is a multi-year winner of the Richard Leigh Songwriting Contest (Youth Division), a three-time Top-Five Finalist for the IWMA Liz Masterson Crescendo Award and was the 2017 winner of the Rural Roots Music Commission’s Youth Traditional Country CD of the Year. Alice is a performing member of the Cowtown Opry Buckaroos in Ft. Worth, TX, Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) in her hometown of Rocky Mount, Virginia, and travels all over the country performing original western music.
