Across the U.S. to the far north of Alaska and to Europe, audiences have been entertained by multi-award-winning Carol Markstrom’s clear, emotion-filled vocals and songs that transport across places, times, and people of the West, including its Native American cultures. Carol has released five CDs—four award-winning—with her latest, “Seekers,” receiving the 2025 Album of the Year Award: Native Style from the Red Carpet Award Show in Europe. She is a two-time recipient of the Western Female Vocalist of the Year Award from the Academy of Western Artists (AWA), a two-time finalist with the Native American Music Awards, and she received the Silver Arrow Award from Spirit Wind Records on three occasions. Her award-winning song about Dakota Sioux leader, “Medicine Bottle,” is in the soundtrack of the 2019 documentary film titled “The Indian System,” and her song “Miner’s Candle” was the basis for a short film that won numerous awards. Carol’s music is played worldwide and frequently is on the charts. Carol accompanies herself on acoustic guitar, often with another musician accompanying, and performs a broad repertoire of songs for a range of venues—folk and music festivals, house concerts, faith-based groups, restaurants and other public venues, and libraries and museums. Career highlights include being Rex Allen Jr.’s musical guest on the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, and in 2025 performing at the Country Messe in Erfurt, Germany—“Europe’s largest country music fair.”
