Welcome to the International Western Music Association youth web page. If you enjoy Western music or Cowboy poetry and are under 21 years of age we would be delighted to have you join the IWMA as a member of our Youth Chapter. Young performers, future performers, and fans are the future of Western music and the IWMA encourages young people to come be a part of the Western Music and Poetry family.

YOUTH PERFORMER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

IWMA is offering an exciting opportunity for Youth Chapter members who would like to expand their Western music or cowboy poetry performance skills by establishing the Young Performers Education Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to Youth Chapter members in good standing for instrumental, vocal, or song/poetry-writing private instruction, a music camp session or class instruction at a music school.

To apply:

1. APPLICATION: Download and fill out the Young Performers Education Scholarship Application
2. BIO: Submit a bio stating performance experience (if any), achievements and current goals for professional development.
3. DESCRIPTION: Provide a description of the camp or other instruction. What is the focus of instruction? Who teaches it? Where is it located?
4. PURPOSE: State why this instruction is important to your development.
5. RECOMMENDATION: Attach at least one Letter of Endorsement from a music teacher, IWMA member, festival organizer or other music or performance professional
6. SUBMIT: Send application package to Marsha Short, IWMA Executive Director, P. O. Box 648, Coppell, TX 75019 or email to marsha@westernmusic.org
7. FOLLOWUP: After you have attended, write a thank you note to the IWMA Board of Directors. Include a summary of your camp experience. Did you meet your goal? What did you learn? Describe a highlight of your experience.

Applications must be submitted 4-6 weeks prior to the camp or instruction session registration deadline. Only one application per person per year will be accepted. If selected, scholarship funds will be sent directly to the camp, private instructor or music school.
