The Gathering is a five-day exciting, fun-filled event held the first week of October with evening performances and Saturday daytime sessions. Poets and musicians from throughout the country grace our stage, performing classic and contemporary poems and songs that will bring tears to your eyes and keep you in stitches.  Our School Outreach program features the music and poetry of award-winning local, national and international performers who are Durango during the week of the Gathering. Our artists share their songs, poems and stories with students in area schools.  We also host a poetry and art contest for the students.  Winners recite their poetry during the Gathering and artwork is displayed throughout Durango during the Gathering.

As a non-profit,  The Durango Cowboy Gathering strives to bring together people from all walks of life, and all ages, to celebrate and preserve the history, culture and traditions of the American west.
